I.P.F 2012 Photo Prize

 

I have 2 Risograph, limited edition pieces in the I.P.F Photo Prize, which opens next Monday 2nd April. There will be judging and drinking and a silent auction, so come along to The Tinning Street Gallery located at 5/29 Tinning street, Brunswick between 6-9pm!

Neither excluded Nor included

An exhibition of new photographs, 'Neither excluded nor included' officially opens this Friday night 9th September at 6pm at Mr Kitly in Melbourne.

Mr Kitly is located at 381 Sydney Road, Brunswick (upstairs). The show runs until 25th September, and the gallery is open Thursday - Sunday. A facebook event has been created here (let me know if that link doesn't work).

Please join me for a drink on Friday between 6-8!

Last Days

My exhibition finishes up this Sunday 15th May. Open 10-5 every day until then. I will be sitting the gallery most of the weekend - come say hello!

I have an exhibition of new photographs opening this week, at C3 Contemporary Art Space.

Peter Conrad ‘Down Home, Revisiting Tasmania’

'I hope you choke' is a photographic documentary of Tasmanian roadside produce stands and farm gate landscapes. It is a collection of photographs loaded with contradictions. A romanticised social commentary of a dying concept, despite the growing popularity and need for self sustainable living.

These images are faithful and Australian. Even more so these scenes are unique to Tasmania. An offshore island of an offshore continent, regularly omitted from maps of Australia – a lonely and savagely beautiful place, severed from the main land by a rising sea level over 10,000 years ago. Such isolation produces an ache of self doubt, a suspicion of solipsism which has the tendency to evoke an air of unease and discontent.

There are shows opening in the 5 other galleries at C3 on Wednesday too, and I'm pretty excited to be exhibiting alongside all of these artists.

The grounds and gardens of the Abbotsford Convent which surround the gallery are stunning, and worth a visit.

Now on at: The Arts Centre, Melbourne

Today, a new exhibition opens at The Arts Centre in Melbourne. From the Arts Centre website, 'Rock Chicks - An exhibition' takes you backstage via event footage, costumes, instruments, lyrics, sets, posters and sounds to meet the women who kick started, shaped and continue to drive full-speed through the Australian music landscape.

Representing women in girl groups, punk, new wave, pub, hard rock, indie rock and even folk and jazz – this is a curatorial mixed-tape of the most impressive.'

What's really exciting is that featured in this huge exhibition, is Beaches! The photograph I took, above, of Beaches earlier this year is part of the show. I was also lucky enough to have the photograph purchased for the Performing Arts Collection, which is recognised as a State collection, and is the nation's premier specialist performing arts collection relating to the history of circus, dance, music, opera and theatre in Australia.

The exhibition runs from 6 November 2010 until 27 February 2011 in Gallery 1 and Gallery 2 of The Arts Centre complex on St Kilda Rd, Melbourne.

Bad Beasts Do Not Harm Me

Today I went to see the exhibition Bad Beasts Do Not Harm Me, by Natalia Milosz-Piekarska & Karla Way at Craft Victoria - and it looks incredible! I highly recommend you head into the Craft Vic gallery in Flinders Lane, Melbourne. The exhibition is on until the 16th October.

I also got my hands on the exhibition catalogue, which has been beautifully designed and put together - featuring still photography by me.

Still lifes, Vice, Kodak Salon

 So each year, Vice Magazine publish a 'Photo Issue', and this year the theme was 'Still Life'.

I must say, I am quite chuffed to be published along side such noted photographers as Edward Weston, Robert Mapplethorpe, Juergen Teller etc...

I also like that we have been credited as 'Bamford, Ash & Trotter' - sounds like a Law Firm. Ash & Trotter are of course, Trotski & Ash. I had no idea Sarah would be so talented at the '70's food styling vibe'! She has a secret, and no, it isn't hairspray. It was quite fun to shoot, and we also did a Pink version...

...which is currently on display at the Centre of Contemporary Photography, in Fitzroy Victoria as part of the 2010 Kodak Salon.

Two x Two Exhibition - last days.....

Two x Two is almost over, this Sunday the 11th July is it's last day. Thanks to Three Thousand, Mess & Noise and Melbourne newspaper The Age, for the kind words said about our show. Most of all, thank you to my wonderful subjects, all 40 of you! Prints for everyone!
